Who’s adopting Windows Vista? And when’s Windows Server 2008 being released?

According to recent reports, Microsoft® Windows Vista™ adoption is taking off in the SMB market. According to CMP’s Channel Web Network, and based on a survey of 170 solution providers in the SMB space, some 29% are adopting Vista in the first half of 2008, with another 33 percent planning adoption in the second half of the year. CMP noted that the adoption rate among SMBs is higher than with Enterprise customers. By all indications Vista adoption will take off significantly when application development catches up to the OS.

Windows Vista SP1 has been released to manufacturing, which should generate increased adoption. CMP anticipates much wider adoption, particularly in the enterprise space, with the service pack release. Meanwhile, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 is now available for download. Key features include improved security and virtualization technologies. Check out the highlights.

IRIS Exchequer chooses Pervasive PSQL Summit v10  in anticipation of Window Vista’s wide adoption

IRIS Accounting and Business Solutions Product Director Paul Sparkes on Pervasive PSQL Summit v10:

"Historically IRIS has always taken a cautious approach to new adoptions with its Exchequer product, but it was clear that PSQL v10 is no ordinary release. With Microsoft Windows Vista on the horizon, IRIS wanted to be on a platform designed for that environment. A decision to be a pioneer in adopting v10 was made, and the experience to date has proven to be very positive. Since November 2007, more than 200 PSQL sites have been installed or are pending and more than 200 Workgroup sites have been installed – that translates to thousands of users. The new database takes advantage of the increased levels of server memory common today and delivers great performance in return."
